Rainy Day Schedule: I know it's far away from rainy season, but attached is the schedule for inside recess during lunch. Most kids just go back to class after lunch, but there are some classes that have to go to other classes, so we can make sure we have an MDS on duty by them. Please review. It's also in the Team Drive. Thank you. Rainy Day Schedule
A WORD FROM THE SLP:
Topic of the Month: Articulation Disorder
Articulation errors are highly common in young children (and make up the bulk of my caseload). Errors can be characterized in the following ways:
Substitutions –replacing one sound with another (Examples: wed/red, fum/thumb, bee/pea)
Omissions – omitting a sound or sounds in a word (Examples: ca/cat, pay/play, nake/snake)
Distortions – producing the sound in an unfamiliar way (Most common examples include children with lisps and children unable to produce vowel driven /r/ as in the words “car, bear, her, ear, hire, horse”)
When a child demonstrates articulation errors beyond what is typical for their chronological age, a speech-language pathologist may diagnose them as having an articulation disorder.
GOOD TO KNOW: There are different parameters used when identifying and diagnosing children who speak a dialect or are English language learners.
Note: Dates may change. Please continue to double-check the google calendar to confirm dates.
