INFORMATION & ANNOUNCEMENTS:
(“*” Indicates the number of weeks it’s been in newsletter.)
Lunch Helpers for this week: Miss Kellogg... Click here for the lunch helper schedule! Please send the same 4-5 students this week to help in the lunchroom. Thank you.
Reminder: POD printers are for single pages only. Class sets should be done following the guidelines on the Toshiba Printers and RISO. We have to pay from site funds if we go over our yearly allotment.
Emails: Please remember to not use student names in emails. Lawyers love looking for names and initials when building a case. If you have to use initials, please make sure the email is business and factual.
Chromecarts: Please return chromecarts to the small room in between the library and room 19 when done. This way we don't interrupt either when going to get them.
*Don't Forget: Sign up for a PTC meeting to attend and for OR staff music.
*Volunteers: Remember, volunteers have to be on the approved volunteer list that Crystal shared, before they can be scheduled to come into the classroom. This is for the safety of our students.
*Rainy Day Schedule: I know it's far away from rainy season, but attached is the schedule for inside recess during lunch. Most kids just go back to class after lunch, but there are some classes that have to go to other classes, so we can make sure we have an MDS on duty by them. Please review. It's also in the Team Drive. Thank you. Rainy Day Schedule
Notes from the Psych:
The Zones: So what are these “Zones” we keep talking about? There are four zones that we want to understand when we talk about self-regulation. We use the zones to help the students, as well as ourselves, to conceptualize how to self-regulate. This helps creates a system to categorize how the body feels and the students emotions into four colored zones that are easily identifiable. So we have…
The GREEN Zone: This is the ideal state of alertness which can describe things like calm, happy, focused, and content. At this point the student is completely in control.
The YELLOW Zone: This is when the students start to experience a heightened state of alertness such as experiencing stress, frustration, anxiety, excitement, silliness, and fear. At this point the student is still somewhat in control.
The RED Zone: This is the point when the students are experiencing an extremely heightened state of alertness such as anger, rage, explosive behavior, panic, grief, terror, and elation. At this point the student is no longer in control.
This week take some time to stop and think about which zone your emotions might fall into! Helping our students understand these zones means we need to be aware of what zones our own emotions fall into!
See ya next week!
