Psych BLOG: The Zones
Hello all! Your friendly school psychologist (intern) coming at you with some helpful information you can incorporate into your classrooms! If any of you have walked by my (Crystal’s) office you might have noticed a big sign that says “Zones of Regulation.” This is a common curriculum you have probably heard of that teaches students self-regulation. Self-regulation, as many of you know, is the ability to achieve the preferred state of alertness for the given situation, including regulating one’s body’s needs as well as one’s emotions.  We use this self-regulation curriculum in many of our counseling sessions and you can use it in your classroom too! The more your students are exposed to the language and concepts of the curriculum, the more they will be able to correctly use the tools they learn. In addition to our students learning self-regulation, they will also gain an increased vocabulary of emotional terms, insight into events that trigger their behavior, calming and alerting strategies, and problem solving skills. Each week I will be including a new concept or tool you can introduce in your classroom to help our students be successful. I look forward to sharing this knowledge with you and if any of you want more information or have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Your School Psychologist Intern!

*Kickball: Kickball isn't allowed on the blacktop. We no longer have the space for it. Soccer balls are also supposed to be only on the field, NOT on the blacktop.

Note: Dates may change. Please continue to double-check the google calendar to confirm dates.
