TOSA Corner: For the next few months, along with taking RTI groups, I would like to offer help to you with your effective math block. We can work together on one part of the block or even the whole block if you’re interested. I’m open to anything that you need. Here is a link to sign-up with me: OR Co-Planning and Co-Teaching Math
I would also like to let you all know that if you would like to observe a teacher in your grade level, I can cover your class for you. I am hoping to give you all time to learn from one another and hopefully pick up some new tips and tricks for your own classroom. For me in this position, I cannot tell you how many ideas I have taken from all of you and plan to implement when I get back into my own classroom. I’d love to do the same for you.
Bathroom Access: Please make sure that students understand they can use the bathroom during class. We understand that excessive bathroom use or using the bathroom right after recess is a challenge. Please communicate with families if it becomes a problem. What we want to avoid is any anxiety about not being able to use the bathroom.
Flexible Homework School: Please see the definition of flexible homework in our OR Parent/Handbook. HW completion should NOT have a punitive consequence. When we opened we discussed that kids should be allowed to do sports, youth group, or etc. after a day of school. We all know we can never make all families happy. Some want more HW. Some want less HW. I recommend reminding families of access to online curriculum to help them if they are asking for more work. This will also help them create the "structure" at home they may be wanting.
*Finishing lunch: Students finishing their lunch at the concrete tables must keep their lunch boxes at those lunch tables and not walk to their classrooms to put them away.
*Walking after recess: Please reinforce, practice, and teach the expectation of walking back to class after recess.
*Best Independent Study Practice: Grade levels should get together and make emergency packets of both Math and ELA for students going on I.S. or missing school on short notice. Let admin know if you have questions.
